La Cenerentola de Els Comediants en Houston

El pasado sábado 27 se estrenó en la HGO La Cenerentola, coproducida conjuntamente con el GTL, la WNO y el GTG y con la dirección de escena a cargo de Els Comediants.

Esta producción la veremos estas navidades en el GTL, con DiDonato y Flórez. Tiene un ligero aire al vestuario El sombrero de tres picos que diseñó Picasso.

Not that the staging and designs of the Barcelona theater collective Comediants shortchanged Saturday’s audience at the Wortham Theater Center. Set and costume designer Joan Guillén and director Joan Font have blended a riot of color with sophisticated comedy just oozing with mirth – the sort that had different people laughing at different things throughout the evening.

From the opening simple song of daydreams Cinderella sings, DiDonato performed Angelina/Cinderella with bravura ease, yet without ever losing focus on musicality. She sang dazzling coloratura awesomely – in the correct sense of awe-filling – yet made quieter and tender moments sweet and velvety.
